Accessibility at Nigel Integrity
Nigel Integrity is a product of Avance Financial LLC.
Assessment integrity tools have a history of failing the students who need flexibility most. Nigel was designed the other way around: no lockdown software, no behavioral scoring, and no automated penalties, so accommodations and assistive technology keep working.
No student is automatically penalized because a behavioral signal was detected. Every flag is reviewed by a human, and behavioral signals are not flags in the first place.
Our conformance commitment
The Nigel Integrity product and this website are designed to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. We are actively working toward WCAG 2.2 Level AA as our conformance target, with keyboard navigation, focus management, contrast, and screen reader semantics audited as part of our release process.
Testing accommodations policy
Accommodations are configured by the institution, and Nigel is built so that honoring them is the default, not a workaround:
- Accommodations are set per student per exam by the instructor or testing office, through the same LMS workflow used for the assessment itself.
- Students request accommodations through their institution's disability services office, exactly as they would for an in-person exam. Nigel never requires a student to disclose a disability to us.
- Accommodated behavior is never treated as an integrity signal. Extra time, breaks, readers, and scribes are configured in advance so reviewers see them as expected conditions.
Accommodation types we support
Extended time
Instructors configure extended time per student per exam. Monitoring simply runs for the configured duration; there is no separate accommodation surcharge and no flag for taking the full time.
Camera accommodations
Where a webcam or 360 camera is a barrier, institutions can configure alternative capture settings or an alternative assessment path for the affected student.
Neurodivergent students
Nigel never scores movement, fidgeting, eye contact, or pacing. Because there is no behavioral scoring of any kind, a student who stims, looks away, or takes breaks is not flagged for it.
Assistive technology
Students take exams in their own browser with their own setup intact: screen readers, magnifiers, alternate input devices, speech-to-text, and custom display settings all keep working because we never lock down the machine.
Multi-monitor and assistive setups
A second display used for screen magnification, an assistive technology device, or an alternate input device configured through your disability services office is never treated as a flag. Accommodations are set before the exam, not litigated after it.
Religious accommodations
Head coverings and religious dress are never flagged. Room scan and identity steps can be configured by the institution to respect religious requirements, including private verification options.
VPAT and ACR availability
A Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) documenting our Accessibility Conformance Report (ACR) is available for procurement and Section 508 review. We are glad to walk your accessibility office through it and to discuss any barrier your students encounter.
